Ezekiel 36 and #QAnon's Threat

A Twitter thread shared today. Edited slightly for readability and to add some additional links.

Starting a thread to respond to #QAnon's threat: "We are saving Israel for last."
All of us are well aware that Israel, as a nation, is responsible for its deeds. Good and bad. We can't simultaneously say it's a democracy, and then hide behind theocratic explanations for same.

Few of us, myself included, are qualified to act as spokespeople for Israel. I am not even going to try.

All I want to do, today, is share some words from the weekly Torah portion, which we read in synagogue today and which tends to parallel current events in ways that can only be described as scary.

The focus for now is on part of the supplemental reading ("Haftorah") for today: Ezekiel 36:16-36. God rebukes the Jewish people for straying from religion, and adopting immoral ways. He will cleanse us of our sins, because frankly we're making Him look bad.

Again, to be clear, I'm not saying that everything Israel does is bad, or that Israel necessarily represents the Jewish people. Only that Biblical prophecy clearly articulates what will happen when we sin.

I can assure you that no man will destroy the Jewish people. Not #QAnon, not Iran, not Russia. Not radical Islam. Not even the kind of Jews who try to channel our faith into the worship of demons.

And demons are very real.

(As we do a close read of the text, let me say in advance that I know the good people who read my Tweets are not anti-Semites at all.)

This is the prophet Ezekiel talking. 36:16 --"When the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, they defiled it by their way and by their doings; their way before Me was as the uncleanness of a woman in her impurity."

Notice the continuous use of the word "blood," and the term "idols." I believe this refers to occult behavior-copying non-Jews: 36:18 -- "Wherefore I poured out My fury upon them for the blood which they had shed upon the land, and because they had defiled it with their idols."

Verse 19 clearly states that expulsion from Israel was a punishment. ("The Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh away.") -- "I scattered them among the nations, and they were dispersed through the countries; according to their way and according to their doings I judged them."

Yet regardless of this temporary situation, we know that Israel is the Jewish Holy Land (Genesis 15:18-21, 28:13, 23:31) and will be returned upon repentance. Even if we are so bad, we have to be cleansed through fire, God forbid.

Verse 20 -- The Jewish people will sin in exile, causing non-Jews to say, in effect, "no wonder they were expelled." "And when they came unto the nations...they profaned My holy name; in that men said of them: These are the people of the LORD, and are gone forth out of His land."

Verse 21 -- Despite His anger, God has mercy - because of His holy name, e.g. the Jewish people have harmed the reputation of holiness with their sins: "But I had pity for My holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the nations, whither they came."

Verse 22  -- This is self-explanatory; it reiterates Verse 21. "Therefore say unto the house of Israel: Thus saith the Lord GOD: I do not this for your sake, O house of Israel, but for My holy name, which ye have profaned among the nations, whither ye came."

Verse 23 -- God saves the Jewish people from self-defilement: "I will sanctify My great name, which hath been profaned among the nations, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the nations shall know that I am the Lord...when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes."

Here it is important to note that the Jewish people is not saved through conversion to another faith, but rather through a return to our own faith, which we have defiled through profane behavior.

How does salvation and sanctification of God's name, and promise, happen?

Partially through the physical transport of all Jewish people to Israel.

Verse 24 -- "For I will take you from among the nations, and gather you out of all the countries, and will bring you into your own land."

Understand that this reading is supplemental to the Bible reading about the "Red Heifer," a sacrifice some say atones for the Golden Calf, which of course was idolatry, as the Jews got restless waiting for Moses to come down from the mountain with the Torah.

The Red Heifer is a complicated concept, but one thing stands out, again - the color RED. Red = blood = impurity = sin. Verse 25 -- "And I will sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean; from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you."

Recall how the brutal gang MS-13 cuts out the human heart. Satanists harvest blood. The heart also implies love; a corrupted heart is "a heart of stone." Verse 26 -- "A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you; and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh."

Bottom line - there is no question that the prolonged exile we Jewish people are in is caused SOLELY by our own transgressions. But God promises help -- Verse 27: "And I will put My spirit within you, and cause you to walk in My statutes, and ye shall keep Mine ordinances, and do them."

Bottom line: The problem with Zionism is not the concept of Israel as the land of the Jewish people. It is the concept that we can have it without God.

Verse 28 -- "And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be My people, and I will be your God."
